The OHM Vallée du Rhône federates an interdisciplinary, open and dynamic scientific group. With more than 270 scientists, it mobilizes a wide range of disciplines (biology, chemistry, ecology, geoarchaeology, geography, history, hydraulics, hydromorphology, sociology, etc.).
As a forum for exchange and co-construction of research questions at the interface between science and management, the OHM Vallée du Rhône benefits from solid partnerships with all those involved in the river.
The OHM Vallée du Rhône is directed by Carole Barthélémy (Aix Marseille University, LPED) and Brice Mourier (ENTPE, LEHNA). It involves 22 research teams along the Rhône river.
The Observatory’s activities are discussed and decided by two steering bodies: the Scientific Council and the Strategic Orientation Committee.
The Graie is responsible for coordinating and running the observatory.

Executive Committee
The Management Committee is responsible for implementing the decisions taken by the Scientific Council and the Strategic Orientation Council. It is responsible for the day-to-day management of the OHM Vallée du Rhône.
Its members are Carole Barthélémy (Scientific Director), Brice Mourier (Deputy Scientific Director), Fanny Arnaud (Tools and Data Research Engineer) and Bertrand Morandi (Technical Coordinator).
Scientific Council
The Scientific Council defines the program of the OHM Vallée du Rhône and ensures the implementation and coherence of all the scientific activities that mark the life of the organization. It is responsible for the Calls for Research Projects (APR) funded by Labex DRIIHM.
The Scientific Council is made up of members of the OHM VR Management Committee and scientists representing a wide range of environmental science disciplines (chemistry, ecology, economics, geography, history, hydrobiology, hydrogeology, hydromorphology, political science, sociology, etc.). The scientific heads of the Observatoire des Sédiments du Rhône (OSR), RhônEco and the Crépieux-Charmy Research Platform are also members of the Scientific Council.
Strategic Orientation Council
The Strategic Advisory Council (SAC) is a privileged forum for discussion between the various stakeholders involved with the river (scientists, politicians, economists, associations, etc.). Its mission is to identify societal demands, formulate advisory opinions, and guide the OHM Vallée du Rhône’s priority areas of research.
The COS is composed of members of the Scientific Council and representatives of the technical and financial partners of OHM Vallée du Rhône.
Coordination and Management
The OHM Vallée du Rhône is coordinated and run by the Graie, with support from the European Union as part of the Rhône-Saône Plan.
Administrative and financial coordination is provided by the CNRS’s UMR 5600 EVS, the OHM Vallée du Rhône’s support unit. Data management for the observatory is also coordinated by UMR 5600.
Lastly, the OHM VR benefits from all the co-ordination and coordination activities carried out by the DRIIHM.
